Subdomain Madness

In my attempt to make things more streamlined, I am adding subdomains for the more popular parts of the web site. Most of them work now.

HNE Radio: http://hner.haslage.net/

IRC Chat Rooms: http://irc.haslage.net/

Non-IRC Chat Rooms: http://chat.haslage.net/

Tournaments: http://tourney.haslage.net/

Shop: http://shop.haslage.net/

Discussion Forums: http://forums.haslage.net/

SLCPA: http://slcpa.haslage.net/

Wii Rockers: http://wr.haslage.net/

SpaceStation 51 @ IFT: http://ift.haslage.net/

All of the long URLs will continue to work forever or until we rearrange.

Thanks goes out to Jaelli of MudMagic.Com for not killing me. I have asked for a load of assistance on the administrative side and she has always been polite.

Web Site Updates

I have removed all non-design related included materials, such as the news headlines, from all archives pages. The reason for this is so that I do not have to continually check each site in the Museum of MU* Community History, amongst others, to keep things updated. There are over a dozen web sites located there and it is a load of work to have to adjust them again and again.

Also, I have fixed the search engine page. The header and footer is included again. I have set the header and footer to be very generic. Again, a time saver. I have ran the search engine compiler and it has updated HNE and IFT search databases.

If you find any errors with any HNE web site, please utilize the "Contact Us" link to the left and let me know. You can also reach me if you have any comments or questions.

Enjoy!

SCLPA Leagues Closing

By the end of August, all of the SLCPA leagues will be closed. We had a good five year run, however interest has almost entirely died. Top top it off, I no longer hold a position at one of the league locations and in the other, the storefront we used has gone out of business.

It is a sign of the times, we all must move on. While there may not be a league anymore, I will still be a Tournament Organizer and Judge. I will be able to open leagues locally if interest appears. Except, league leaders will be incharge for the most part, I will not run a league myself.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach me via our contact form.

Ciao!

McAfee SecurityCenter Overkill

For anyone who uses McAfee SecurityCenter who noticed today that all of the sudden web pages do not seem to appear the same as they did before, McAfee is to blame. Today the update includes an ad blocker and it is so strict that it can kill an entire web page using keywords such as banner, ad and what have you in the filenames.

To disable the feature, load McAfee and go into the Internet & Network category. Select Configure, then on the Web Browsing Protection header select Advanced. Uncheck the top one that says, "Block advertisements that appear on web pages when you browse the Internet." Then hit OK and on the Internet & Network menu select ignore for the feature. If you do not it will badger you until you die.

Once you disable it, all is right with the world again. The reason it exists is because there is a new rash of viral intruders that come through via popups and access to ActiveX. It is an added bit of protection that newbies to the Internet could surely use. For us advanced users, we know what to not click on and what web sites we should avoid.

Ciao!

New News System

Well, our old news system, Coranto, did not survive a server update. Because I am tired of dealing with CGI scripts, I have switched to a PHP news system called Cute.

All old news has been archived to their appropriate sections and now we must start anew. On the plus side, Cute has a few extra features. On the negative side, in addition to the lack of decent archiving, there is no search feature. Let us all cross our fingers.

On one last bit of news, due to business closures, All That Glitters Jewelry and The Dungeon have been removed from the listings. I have also moved Animalympics and DBA from the Special listings to the Web listings. It seemed more appropriate and balanced things out.

Ciao!
