    All,

I have been an officially sanctioned independent organizer for a number of game companies going as far back as 2002. As of the end of April 2018, I will be no longer independently organizing sanctioned events for any game companies. Occasionally, I may assist a convention, hobby shop and/or organization that is holding an event. I may also request support from the game companies for the aforementioned events, but I will no longer organizing events solely on my own.

The fact is, during the last five years, the number of hobby shops in North-Central Ohio has increased to the point that what I do is not in as high of demand than it used to be. Many of the game companies have been transitioning the sanctioning and organization of their events to the hobby shops. Plus, as the years have gone on, I have found it increasingly more difficult to find jobs with enough flexibility in their schedules to allow me to organize events. Thus, Games – Ohio will be shutting down in October 2018 and I have already begun the process of replacing myself with other organizers.

Beginning in May, Jimmy Gurney will be replacing me as the North-Central Ohio Pokemon Tournament Organizer. He will be assisting local hobby shops with their Pokemon Leagues as well as organizing the events of those without a tournament organizer. Gurney, as well as AJ Schumacher and Ryan Patterson, have been given ownership of the relevant Games – Ohio owned Pokemon Facebook groups and pages. In addition, local independent organizers for HeroClix and CardFight: Vanguard have been given ownership of the relevant Games – Ohio owned Facebook groups and pages. Any other Games – Ohio owned Facebook groups and pages that I do not find someone else to take over will be deleted between now and October 2018.

That being said, it does not mean that I will stop playing games. Beginning Tuesday, April 3, 2018, I begin working at Level Two Games in Avon. I will be employed at the store in hopes to grow its player bases for CardFight: Vanguard, Dragon Ball Super and Pokemon. I believe that I may also be able to assist the hobby shop in other avenues. If you are interested in joining me at Level Two Games on Tuesdays at 6 PM, we will be running CardFight: Vanguard, Dragon Ball Super and Pokemon leagues and tournaments at that time.

Thanks to everyone for all of the years of fun!

    – Anthony Haslage
